NDTV India showed a report today at 21:30 that revealed astonishing facts about the degrading equipment of the Indian Army. It makes us wonder if we are really ready to handle a possible attach by Pakistan or China. Though things don’t seem to go as bad where a such a situation arises but shouldn’t we be ready.
We have all known about the MIG crashes. These fighter planes are nothing more than flying coffins for our pilots. In the last few years, there have been 300 MIG crashes which have taken there toll on 200 pilots. These MIG fighters have well passed there age but are being still used without caring for the lives of our soldiers. These planes were purchased from Russia and unless the top officials take a decision, there use would not be stopped.
In case of Tanks, only 20% of our Tanks can operate at night. This figure if compared with Pakistan and China, will drive shivers to your body. Pakistan has 80% tanks with the ability to work at night and China’s tanks are 100% operable at night. What’s more, in daylight the temperature inside our tanks, in locations like Rajasthan, can go as high as 60 degree Celsius. You can very well imagine how our soldiers feel inside those tanks.
Our Navy is also facing the problem of depleting resources. Our fighter helicopters have also crossed their age-limit long time ago. Just because their wings are still rotating, there are not being replaced.
Our SAM units are so old that their frequency can easily be read and compromised. The Artillery Units which were used during the Kargil war and helped us scare away the Pakistani Militants, are rust ridden. They are still being used after making repairs and with local/low-quality ammunition. These machines possess low accuracy and can hardy fire to 25 kms.
The largest democracy in the world does not stand a chance to beat it’s neighbors in case a war starts. I would like to clarify here that the above facts are sourced from NDTV India’s report.
A question that arises in my mind is why can’t we develop our own equipment? Why can’t we spend our efforts in R&D of fighter planes, tanks and other ultra-fighting machines.
10 years hence, all these machines would be useless and India would have a lot of problems to take care of. No doubt our soldiers have the best determination and enthusiasm to do what it takes to fight for our land and of course with no grudges against the Indian Government. I salute the brave soldiers of my nation.
